Our Story

We grew up on coffee. Three of us — siblings — raised on our family’s farms in the highlands of Matagalpa and Jinotega, where the day starts before sunrise and the whole community moves with the harvest.

What we fell in love with wasn’t only the cup. It was what coffee does to a place — the jobs it creates, the schools it builds, the families it keeps on their land, generation after generation. We watched coffee turn into classrooms, clean water, and steady work for hundreds of families, and we learned early that a coffee farm can be the heartbeat of its community, not just a source of beans.

B5 is our own chapter. We’re taking everything that raised us and pointing it at one thing: sourcing the best specialty coffee Nicaragua produces and bringing it directly to roasters in the United States. We know this coffee because we come from it — the altitude, the volcanic soil, the hands that pick every cherry.

When you buy from B5, you’re buying from people who grew up in Nicaraguan coffee — not from a broker’s offer list. We find the lots worth roasting, we cup every one, and we get them to your roastery.

More Than Coffee

We didn’t start B5 to sell coffee. We started it because we believe that a coffee farm should be the heartbeat of its community — not just a source of beans, but a source of education, clean water, stable livelihoods, and pride.

The coffee communities we come from have invested in the people and land that make this coffee possible — not because it looks good on a website, but because these are the neighbors, the friends, and the families who wake up before dawn to pick the cherries that end up in your roastery.

When you buy from B5, you’re buying from people who grew up in this — who know the school down the road, the watershed, the families who pick before dawn. That’s not marketing — that’s where we come from.
